About DCCP
Detroit Center for Contemporary Photography brings together a community of people interested in
photography and lens-based work. DCCP is a nonprofit 501 c3 organization that currently offers exhibitions and lectures to bring a deeper appreciation and understanding of photography to our community.
DCCP will promote contemporary photography and provide a vital cultural resource to Detroits communities.
Founded in 2010 as a visual artists organization, DCCP began as a member-run cooperation the
governing board of which includes physicians, lawyers, educators, photographers and gallery owners
and was incorporated as nonprofit organization the same year. Originally located in downtown Pontiac, DCCP has recently opened a new 4000 sq. ft. gallery space
in Detroits Russell Industrial Center. Future fundraising efforts will benefit workshops, publications, and community education; eventual renovation of DCCPs space will include a library, which will house photography-related books and journals, and a formal reception space. DCCP seeks to broaden its outreach among Detroits diverse communities through exhibitions and programming through the medium of community collaboration with local institutions.
